This is a working draft of Terms of Reference for the EEG6 Plenary. It was reviewed and agreed by the WG7 members at the EEG6/WG7 meeting in Eltville before being presented to the EEG6 group for approval.
WG7 is a sub-committee of EBES Expert Group 6 (EEG6). It works on behalf of EEG6 on matters related to transport statistics.
Before submission and dissemination to other EDI standardisation bodies or other structures of EBES, standards produced by the group must be agreed by EEG6.
WG7 consists of representatives from statistical bodies (i.e. National Statistical Administrations, Pan European institutions, ...) and public and private organisations involved in the statistical chain for the transport sector (port and airport authorities, carriers, freight forwarders...).
The main goal of EEG6/Working Group 7 (EEG6/WG7) is to find ways for the collection and dissemination of transport statistics by means of electronic communications. The group works in close co-operation with EBES/EEG2, the Message Development Group responsible for transport messages.
The group is also a place to exchange experiences made in practical implementations of EDI solutions.
This embraces work on:
· existing message formats and implementation guidelines, new data models and formats (e.g. ebXML Core Components), electronic questionnaire design, extraction of data from existing sources and so on.
· the implementation of electronic solutions for the collection and exchange of transport statistics.
WG7 establishes and maintains a work programme describing the concrete activities to be undertaken.
For the working procedures of WG7 please refer to EEG6 Terms of Reference.
WG7 may have meetings for each mode of transport or common meetings for several modes of transport.
The continuing need for the working group should be reviewed by itself every two years or sooner if necessary and a recommendation should be made to the EEG6 on whether to continue with it or not.
