Eurostat is in charge of the development of the European statistical system by harmonizing methods, nomenclatures, and concepts, in order to provide the European Union with a high-quality statistical information service.
Eurostat promotes the use of EDI to collect and disseminate statistics in all sectors of the industry.
Eurostat has launched projects in the field of maritime transport (EDIMARS) and balance of payments (EDIBOP) to help transport operators, ports, port community systems, banks, large enterprises, small and medium enterprises, central banks, departments and ministries of transport, and regional and statistical offices benefit from EDI throughout the European Union.
