Data processing features

Hardware features:

ERETES will be installed on PC (Pentium) micro-computers, with a memory of at least 64 MB and free disk space of about 600 MB.

Access to a CD reader is required to install the software.

Users obviously need access to a printer to edit their tables.

Software features:

ERETES was designed to operate under Microsoft®Windows 9X/NT/2000/XP.

To function, ERETES uses the Progress® command interpreter and the Progress® language. Besides, ERETES databases use the Progress® database engine. It is therefore indispensable to install Progress® Personal RDBMS™ on each workstation hosting ERETES.

ERETES must be installed locally on each workstation.

ERETES interacts with Microsoft® Excel to produce tables which can be used directly with Microsoft® Excel spreadsheets. Microsoft® Excel must therefore be installed.

Networks and distribution of tasks:

ERETES is not a client server application. The database is used only in mono-user mode. However, the National Accountants share tasks and data in a structured and secure environment. For this ERETES uses data extraction/loading techniques and decentralisation/repatriation techniques. These procedures are managed entirely by the software and require no IT skills on the part of users.

The database:

All the data relating to an accounting year is stored in a database. The database engine is the RDBMS Progress® version 9.

Programming language:

ERETES was developed using the fourth generation Progress® language.
