ROSKILDE - Geography and history

The county of Roskilde occupies an area of 892 km2, representing 2.1% of the total area of Denmark. It is situated on Zealand Island, and borders the county of Frederiksborg to the north, the county of Copenhagen to the north-east, the county of West Zealand to the west and the county of Storstroems to the south. It comprises 11 municipalities.
