Help (Aids incidences in the European Union) |
What is to be seen? |
This applet visualises the number of new AIDS cases per 1 million population in the Member States of the European Union for 1990 through 2001. The visualisation is carried as a time series for three user-selected EU countries or by boxplots. An alternative presentation uses bar charts and refers to only one year. |
How to use this interactive component? |
Choose from the menu three countries and compare the resulting time series. The option "View" also offers to use boxplots instead of time series for graphical presentation. When using the boxplot display, one may identify the extreme values ot the data set involved by putting the mouse on the the upper or lower part of an boxplot. The user may further switch to a comparison of aids incidences for a fixed year by means of bar charts. |
View: Enables the user to choose time series graphs or boxplots in order to compare AIDS cases for the period 1990 - 2001. Comparisons between all 15 countries can also be done for a single year by using bar charts. You may also decide whether or not numerical values are displayed in tabular form. |
Zoom: Generates a second window which, may be arbitrarily enlarged, compressed or stretched. |
Notation: Offers background information on the survey and explains some abbreviations. You may print out the notes by using the right-hand mouse button or the print functionality of the Windows navigation frame. |
Language: This functionality offers the option to change the language. |
