What is to be seen?

This applet visualizes the labour costs in two user-selected economic acitivities for thirteen of the fifteen EU member states. One may also graphically present the labour costs for two countries over different economic activities. The visualization is carried out by means of either bar charts or boxplots.

How to use this multimedia component?

Choose from the menu two economic activities or aggregates of economic activities. Via “View” you may switch to a comparison of labour costs for two countries. The option “View” also offers to use boxplots instead of bar charts for graphical presentation. When using the boxplot display you may identify the extreme values of the data set involved by the putting the mouse on the upper or lower part of an boxplot.

View: Enables the user to choose between a comparison of two economic activities or between two countries. In addition, the user may choose between bar charts and boxplots as alternative graphical tools and decide whether the numerical values should be displayed or suppressed.

Zoom: Generates a second window which may be arbitrarily enlarged, compressed or stretched.

Notation: Offers background information on the survey and explains some abbreviations. You may print out the notes by using the right-hand mouse button or the print functionality of the Windows navigation frame.

Language: This functionality offers the option to change the language.
